what did I learn today:

How well my training goes does not guarantee a great time on race day.

know my type of weather, course, and adjust my goal. (35 degrees with windshield that made it feel like 32 degreea) is not my type of weather.

If I'm going to follow a pace group I will line up close to them because slow runners will block you until they are out of sight.

When you are meeting a friend at a big race (Matt 5467) agree on a place to meet before hand. I was looking to meet with matt from this blog. Cant wait to see how you did.

I was freezing and shaking trying to line up on the right spot to start the race (thanks to Beth driving and helping me to stay warm). Did not warm up until mile 4 and never felt loose until mile 11. Beth tried to get my attention twice during those miles but I had no idea. This how tired and uncomfortable I was with cold wind. I love tough races I seem to get better the following training cycle.

special thanks to my wife and race coordinator without her I would miss all of my races for one reason or another.

thanks to everyone on this blog for your support.

Hard to get the muscles warm in the cold. Great race regardless and nice pictures!

i was watching the race online and it looked very cold. all of of the spectators were bundled up in winter gear!

great job on your race. it's tough to get going in the cold, especially when you aren't acclimated to it. you ran well.

great photos, and nice job to your wife for being an awesome race coordinator. :)

Way to get it done Yasir! Nice race.

I love the pictures. Man, it looks like a cold one. Sub 8 pace is a great result!

Man, you look serious in that last picture! Great race! Well, done, Yasir.

SlowJoe- I agree next time I might do some strides.

Allie- some runners bought blankets to the start line and they were from MN.

From Yasir on Mon, Oct 06, 2014 at 07:27:11 from 100.46.161.182

Tom- I wanted to get the Hick out the cold but Beth is taking pictures junkie.

Nice job Yasir! That is a respectable time and I sympathise with you on the cold. I have a very narrow range of comfortable running temperatures. Keep up the good running and you're going to be dropping that PR quickly!

From Matt Schreiber on Mon, Oct 06, 2014 at 09:04:30 from 66.17.107.219

Nice job Yasir. It may not have been as fast as you were hoping, but it's nice to know when you're muscles are tight you can go run a marathon under 3:30. Way to muscle through those gills at the end. ;) Wish I could be met up with you. Apparently I had NO idea how hard it'd be to find someone in that size of a crowd. Safe travels!

From Jake K on Fri, Oct 10, 2014 at 13:09:16 from 159.212.71.199

Nice run Yasir. It's tough to run your best when you are really cold, but you were still in range of your best marathons. Solid.
